I-10 ramps closed for paving

Paving on westbound Interstate 10 as part of the widening project will require closures today of the on- and off-ramps at Florence Boulevard. Crews will work between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and the ramps will be closed for up to four hours while paving takes place. Drivers should be aware of the following restrictions:

The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Florence Boulevard (Arizona 287) detour route is for drivers to exit at McCartney Road to re-enter I-10 eastbound for access to Florence Boulevard.

The westbound I-10 on-ramp detour route is for drivers to take eastbound I-10 to Jimmie Kerr Boulevard for access to westbound I-10.

Construction on this I-10 widening project began in January 2011. When completed later this year, I-10 will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction between Val Vista Boulevard and Earley Road. Road improvements also are being made at the McCartney Road and Florence Boulevard traffic interchanges, as well as repaving the Val Vista, Cottonwood Lane and Earley Road overpasses.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
