Pinal County crash shuts down I-10 lane, sends 2 to hospital

Two people were airlifted to a Phoenix hosptital after a vehicle rolled over Thursday on Interstate 10 about 30 miles south of Phoenix, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 11 a.m. and shut down one eastbound lane on the interstate. It was not immediately known why the vehicle rolled over the median, authorities said.

One woman was ejected from the vehicle and another was rescued from inside, according to Officer Carrick Cook, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.

The conditions of the women were not immediately known.

Gila River Police advised drivers to avoid the area until the afternoon.
