Fuel spill closes Interstate 10 ramps to Loop 101 in Southwest Valley

The eastbound and westbound ramps from Interstate 10 to northbound Loop 101 in Tolleson have been shut down after a fuel spill Thursday morning, officials said.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, hazmat crews have responded to the area and shut down the ramps after a commercial semi-truck spilled an estimated 100 gallons of diesel fuel shortly after 11 a.m.
Authorities from the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Tolleson Fire Department are reportedly responding to the scene as well.

Tolleson Fire Chief George Good said the truck was not involved in an accident with any other vehicles and there was no other cargo in the truck other than the fuel. The spill has been contained and crews are working on cleaning up the scene, Good said.

Officials said they have no estimate for when the ramps will reopen. There are currently no injuries being reported.
