Ailing driver sideswipes firetruck on I-10 Tuesday night

09/12/12 - A driver suffering from possible diabetic shock sideswiped a fire truck inside the Deck Park Tunnel in Phoenix Tuesday night, authorities said.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety officer was at an unrelated collision at about 7:30 p.m. when the officer saw a car going west on Interstate 10 sideswipe a fire truck, according to authorities.

DPS officers, with the help of a police helicopter, immediately followed the car. The driver wouldn't pull over for the officers, authorities said.

The driver, later identified as Michael Talley, 52, traveled north on Interstate 17 and then west on Loop 101 before stopping near 43rd Avenue, according to authorities.

Talley told officers he was suffering from possible diabetic shock, according to DPS.

Talley was not cited, according to authorities.
