Tempe crash on I-10 backs up morning traffic

10/30/12 - Two vehicles collided on Interstate 10 in Tempe Tuesday morning, creating a backup that extended more than five miles on the eastbound lanes, according to officials.

One person was injured, officials said.

The collision occurred at about 5 a.m. at I-10 and 32nd Street, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Despite the reopening of all lines of the interstate by 6:30 a.m., the blockage caused a backup an estimated five miles long, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

One person was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to DPS.
