The following roads will be closed or have lane restrictions this weekend. Freeway work often occurs overnight. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers consider alternate routes or give themselves extra travel time while the following restrictions are in place:
No freeway-construction or maintenance-related closures are scheduled in the Phoenix area through New Year’s Day.
Outside metro Phoenix, no full closures are scheduled along highways across the state over the holidays.
Drivers should be prepared to slow down and merge if approaching existing work zones, including:
Interstate 10 between Ruthrauff and Prince roads in Tucson for a widening project.
The Arizona Department of Transportation urges drivers to stay alert while traveling over the holidays and to observe the following safe-driving tips:
Check your vehicle, including tire pressure, fluid levels and the condition of engine belts. Buckle up and double-check child-safety seats.
Never drive while impaired. Use a designated driver, if necessary. Be prepared for unscheduled closures because of crashes or disabled vehicles. Have an emergency-preparedness kit that includes extra clothes, blankets, flashlights, snack foods and drinking water
