It's Friday! We have a few reports of closures of this weekend. We've gone a few weeks without any major closures, but now the time has come for you to take alternate routes if any of these closures are in your commute. Have a safe weekend everyone! The following Phoenix area roads will be closed or have lane restrictions this weekend. Freeway work often occurs overnight. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers consider alternate routes or give themselves extra travel time while the following restrictions are in place:
Interstate 10/Interstate 17 and 16th Street
CLOSURE: Eastbound I-10 closed between I-17 and 16th Street from 9 tonight to 9 a.m. Saturday Westbound I-10 also closed between Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for tunnel maintenance. Ramps from southbound Arizona 51 and westbound Loop 202 to westbound I-10 also closed.
DETOUR: Eastbound I-10 drivers can use southbound I-17 to reconnect with I-10 near Sky Harbor International Airport. I-10 westbound local drivers can use McDowell Road or northbound I-17 to connect with I-10 at the “Stack.”
Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway)/I-10
CLOSURE: Southbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) ramp to westbound I-10 closed from 9 tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday for barrier wall repair.
DETOUR: Drivers can use McDowell Road to 99th Avenue.
I-10/Sarival Avenue and Citrus Road
RESTRICTION: Westbound I-10 narrowed overnight to one lane between Sarival Avenue and Citrus Road from 11:30 tonight to 7:30 a.m. Saturday for I-10/Loop 303 interchange construction.
DETOUR: Be prepared to merge safely in work zone.
