Strong winds and dust to blame for highway accidents

04/08/13 - High winds and blowing dust have been linked to multiple crashes Monday, and have forced the closure of many roads around Arizona.

A multiple-vehicle crash along westbound Interstate 10 at Picacho Peak has closed all but one lane.
Two semi-trailers and four vehicles were involved in the wreck, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves.

Graves said weather is to blame for the messy crash, which sent four people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eastbound I-10 has also been shut down at Verrado Way due to a rollover crash around 1:45 p.m. involving a semi.

DPS spokesman Carrick Cook said the truck was hauling produce when it rolled, partially blocking the freeway.
