10/14/13 - A fatal collision on Interstate 10 eastbound near Loop 101 in Tolleson left at least one dead and two injured Sunday night.. A 1999 four-dour Jaguar sedan rolled over about 8:30 p.m. One passenger, Irene Soza, 49, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, authorities said.
The driver, Edwin Hurt, 34, and another passenger, Joyal M. Valeros, 30, both received lacerations and other injuries, authorities said.. The cause of the crash is unknown and is under investigation.
Honestly, I don't understand it. A seat belt is such an easy thing. You sit down, you grab the belt and click it in. That's it. Some people believe that they should have the "freedom" not to have to use a seat belt. Maybe, Ms. Soza felt that way. That is sad.
Maybe Ms. Soza just forgot to put it on. What an tragic mistake for her and her family. Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. If bad enough, the damages can be permanent (like this case).
That is why the use of seat belts is SO IMPORTANT. This tragic accident is the perfect example. We fell badly for all involved and affected by this accident. The outcome could have been much different, with the click of a button. Literally.
