10/3: Weekend Closures


Improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions along sections of Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (Oct. 3-6), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes while these scheduled restrictions are in place:
  • Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane between Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue south of downtown Phoenix from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 4) for overhead sign work. Northbound I-17 on-ramp at Seventh Street also closed. DETOUR: Consider using westbound I-10 in downtown Phoenix area as alternate route.
  • Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Miller and Watson roads in the Buckeye area from midnight to 5 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 4) for pavement improvements. Eastbound I-10 on- and off-ramps in the area closed at times Saturday. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider adjusting schedule to avoid busiest travel times. Traffic will be lighter during early morning and late night hours.
  • Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Watson Road and Verrado Way in the Buckeye area from 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 5) for pavement improvements. Eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Verrado Way closed from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and considering adjusting schedule to avoid busiest travel times.
  • Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Riggs Road in the Chandler area from 9 p.m. Friday to 8:30 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 4), between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Queen Creek Road from 8 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 5) and between Queen Creek Road and Riggs Road from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 6) for resurfacing and other highway work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider adjusting schedule to avoid restrictions.
