3/27/15 -- A crash involving an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer closed westbound Interstate 10 near Tucson on Friday.
The officer collided with a semi-truck. He had to be extricated from the DPS sports utility vehicle he was driving. He was transported to a Tucson hospital and is in serious but stable condition, Northwest Fire District spokesman Adam Goldberg said. The driver of the semi was not injured.
The officer had a DPS K-9 with him that appeared to be uninjured. Emergency responders were waiting for another K-9 officer to take the dog.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said traffic was detoured onto the frontage road.
The crash happened about 10 miles north of Tucson.
There was no immediate timetable to reopen the freeway.
