Eastbound Interstate 10 reopens in West Valley after serious crash

07/31/15 - The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 have reopened at Loop 101 after a serious crash.

The Department of Public Safety said the serious-injury crash happened at 83rd Avenue early Friday morning. According to DPS, a woman driving a Dodge Charger rear ended a van.

The impact was so hard that the Charger slid more than 70 feet and landed on its roof.

The driver of the Dodge is in serious condition. The driver of the white van did not sustain major injuries. Officials believe alcohol and speed were a factor in the crash.

 A second serious crash happened overnight on westbound Interstate 10 at 35th Avenue. DPS said the crash happened on the exit ramp at 35th Avenue.

One person died in the crash. No other cars were involved. The cause of the crash is unknown.
