Child injured while suspect throws rock through windshield on I10 - freeway; 12 cars damaged

11/16/15 - A 9-year-old was taken to the hospital after a large rock was thrown through a car's windshield on the freeway Sunday night.

Arizona Department of Public Safety says the emergency call came in after 9 p.m. in the area of 15th Avenue along eastbound I-10. DPS heard that someone had been throwing bricks or rocks onto the freeway and located a subject in the act.

The suspect led troopers on a short foot pursuit down the 15th Avenue embankment before the suspect was taken into custody.

Twelve cars were damaged during the incident, DPS says. There is no word on the child's condition as of Monday morning
