WB I-10 reopens near Casa Grande after crashes

01/06/16 - A pair of crashes closed both sides of Interstate 10 near Casa Grande for several hours early Wednesday morning, officials said. A four-vehicle crash shut down westbound I-10 at Arizona 287 around 4:30 a.m., according to the state Department of Public Safety.

DPS received reports that at least two vehicles rolled over. An unknown number of people were flown to the hospital for medical treatment.

The Arizona Department of Transportation reported that crews blocked off and diverted traffic as they worked to move one of the overturned vehicles, a semi-truck, upright. The westbound lanes reopened shortly before 7 a.m.

A few miles south, a crash involving a semi-truck and a sedan closed the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Interstate 8 shortly before 5 a.m. One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, a DPS spokesman said.

Both crashes created long delays, and DPS did not have an ETA for the reopening of eastbound I-10. DPS and fire officials were investigating both crash scenes.
