2/5/16 - Officials are on scene of a serious crash on eastbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix According to DPS, a motorcyclist experiencing issues with his motorcycle laid down his bike near 40th Street. Several other cars avoiding the motorcyclist collided.
DPS believes one of the drivers was ejected during the impact. The victim was unresponsive at the time and taken to the hospital in serious condition.
No other injuries, including the motorcyclist, were reported. The Arizona Department of Transportation said all lanes were closed at 40th Street, causing serious backups in rush-hour traffic.
Part of the freeway has been reopened, but restrictions are expected to last through rush hour. Drivers are urged to take SR-202 to SR-143 to avoid the crash site.
