Alcohol Related Accidents


In 2010 The Arizona Department of Transportation reported a total of 5,489 accidents that were in one way or another related and or caused by alcohol. The breakdown of these statistics are below.

- Persons killed in alcohol related accidents 223

- persons injured in alcohol related accidents 3,724

- 2,361 total alcohol related accidents occurred in a collision with motor vehicle in transport

- 305 total alcohol related accidents resulted in overturning

- 219 total alcohol related accidents resulted in a collision with a pedestrian

- 56 total alcohol related accidents resulted in a collision with a pedal-cyclist

- 6 total alcohol related accidents resulted in a collision with an animal

- 1,897 total alcohol related accidents resulted in a collision with a fixed object

- 302 total alcohol related accidents resulted in a collision with non-fixed objects (trains, parked vehicles, work zone equipment)

- 5 total alcohol related accidents resulted in a vehicle fire or explosion

- 151 total alcohol related accidents resulted in an other non-collision ( cargo loss, vehicle immersion, jackknife)

- 187 total alcohol related accidents resulted in an unknown status
